Automated Legionella Monitoring Systems
October 28, 2009
BTS have been successful in securing a major contract to supply and install an automated Legionella monitoring system at North Manchester General Hospital.
With previous successful projects installed for both Stockport and Pennine Acute Hospital’s NHS Trusts, this further establishes BTS as a leader in this field.
As maintenance budgets come under increasing fiscal pressure, the systems – which automate many of the costly labour intensive procedures that are required to be carried out to comply with HSE ACoP L8 - are becoming increasingly popular within the health sector .

BS EN 16001
October 22, 2009
July this year saw the publication of a new standard (BS EN 16001) aimed at helping organisations establish systems, procedures and legal requirements to effectively manage and improve their use of energy in the workplace.
The document has been designed to assist all types and sizes of organisations. The success of the system depends on commitment from all levels and functions of the organization, and especially from the top management. The system guides the organization to develop an energy policy and to establish objectives and processes to achieve and maintain the policy. The standard is based on the methodology known as Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA).
Plan establishes the objectives and processes needed to deliver results in accordance with the organizations energy plan.
Do implement the changes.
Check monitor and measure processes and activities against the energy policy, objectives and legal requirements.
Act to take actions which will continually improve performance.
BTS can assist clients with implementing carbon reduction controls inline with this new standard by the generation of energy policies, implementation of measuring and monitoring systems, review of current control systems, awareness training and preparing tailored reports aimed at employees through to main board members and ongoing evaluation of the implementation measures.
